The REAL Steve Solomon

“I am running for Town Council to bring Civility, Professionalism, Collaboration and Positive Forward Momentum back to our community and Town Government. I am concerned, as both a citizen and former Council Member (2010-2012), that our current Town Council has become a very divisive environment, negatively affecting the Town and my fellow citizens of Oro Valley.

Watch him in action!

Looks like Steve (and his fellow "golf-slate" candidates) were hoping nobody would pay attention to his Campaign Finance Reports. The first batch looked innocuous enough: nothing too big....nothing that really raised an eyebrow....many of the same players.
But the second batch, the one he doesn't want voters to see, just became available on July 28 (long after many voters returned their mail-in ballots). This looks like a re-run of the 2016 election for Steve. Remember Steve parroting "no special interests, no hidden agendas"?
Hard to believe there are no special interests with some rather sizable donations from, again, HSL, Jim Click, and the Realtors of AZ PAC for $3000.
New players, though: What does Town West Realty (Oro Valley Marketplace) expect from Steve?
Does anyone donate this kind of money to a town council candidate without expectations?

For your reference, here are the full Campaign Finance Reports, straight from the town website.

Here's something else Steve doesn't want us to see: HSL contributed far less to HIS campaign in 2020, but if you look at the CFR's for Rodman and Greene, you'll see that HSL has made a higher contribution to the Solo/Rod/Greene slate, maybe in hope that the three will be able to help him in the future? Nah! Can't be!

More details tomorrow. Remember, FOLLOW THE MONEY!

It's that time again. Time to pay for glossy mailer hit pieces when you can't stand on your own accomplishments.

Pot, meet Kettle!

Steve, tell us a funny story! Tell us more about how you want to preserve open areas. We want a good laugh!

I dunno, Steve. The other guys don't support law enforcement, first responders, or education?????
Bill Garner was a firefighter, an emergency medical technician, an assistant squad chief, and an Emergency Management Director over a 20 year span. He also has a Master’s degree in Public Safety. Seems implausible that he now doesn't support them.
Bill Garner saved police personnel back in 2009. But you have selective memory about that.
Doesn't support education??? Yeah, because education is bad? Not sure where you pulled that one from.

When you're desperate, you slam out these mailers so fast that you don't have time to proof them? "Likey"???? Yeah, we no likey baseless hit pieces!

"Oro Valley residents have been failed by the education system" (or "OV Residents are idiots")

Councilman Solomon ran on a platform of "no special interests and no hidden agendas".
Watch him walk a fine line after it came to light that he had a conflict of interest when voting on golf-related issues.

And then there's this. Don't ever think that Solomon and Rodman care about every resident.

But wait, there's more!

Who are H and C Lopez and why are they giving Steve a total of $10,000 toward his 2016 campaign? None other than Humberto Lopez (Chairman of HSL Properties, another developer) and his wife. And coincidentally, the very same company from whom the town purchased the money-losing golf courses in 2014. See below for an additional $2,912 contribution from Omar Mireles, President of HSL.

Yep, we got a screaming deal on that golf course purchase: Only $1,000,000!
What OV citizens weren't told was that the upkeep/maintenance on these golf courses was much higher than $1,000,000 annually.

Want to see more Steve Solomon contributors? Turns out Steve is well-liked by developers. In fact, contributions from developers and special interests made up over $23,000 of his campaign war chest in 2016. It's not a crime to be liked, but these people don't give money to Steve simply because they like him. They wanted his vote, and they were paying for it.
To be fair, there was one contribution, presumably not from a special interest, for $33.58.
And if he's asked, you can bet he'll say "Not ALL of my contributions were from special interests".
Here's the whole report on the Town of Oro Valley website:

Steve is a developer and he has a lot of developer friends. We'll again show you who's making the largest contributions to his 2020 campaign when we get the campaign finance report. Unfortunately, we won't have the final numbers until after the election Aug 4.

Follow the money!

Oh, and on that golf course purchase, how has all that worked out?

Another bombshell....

And who could forget THIS one?

Back in 2016, when Solomon, Rodman, and Pina ran as a block, there was much discussion about the high-dollar donations that ultimately littered Oro Valley with the 3-of-them-together sign you see above.
Watch Solomon spew more BS about the PAC who paid for the above signs.
The audience reaction was priceless!

Again, remember Steve's quote:

“I am running for Town Council to bring Civility, Professionalism, Collaboration and Positive Forward Momentum back to our community and Town Government. I am concerned, as both a citizen and former Council Member (2010-2012), that our current Town Council has become a very divisive environment, negatively affecting the Town and my fellow citizens of Oro Valley.

And then ask yourself, "Why is Steve Solomon even AT the meeting the Green Shirts organized to recall Mayor Winfield and Vice-Mayor Barrett, much less coaching them on the finer points of a recall?"

"If you don't like what we're doing, don't live here"

Attend a town council meeting via Zoom and watch him in action. It's absolutely CRINGEWORTHY!

Yeah.....he's running again. Is THIS the guy we want representing Oro Valley?

If the examples above haven't convinced you to vote for ANYONE BUT Steve Solomon on August 4 (early ballots go out July 8), come back and visit this website again. We have more of Steve's foibles and we'll be posting them soon!
